Just A Little Lonely

How is it, Adiel, that you can take a simple picture, add a title and make me want to cry? At first I looked at the bench as being peaceful, but then I thought about the title and could feel the aching loneliness. Well done.

Thanks for the compliments. I wasn't trying to do anything special when I took this picture- I was just trying to get a different angle- but I was surprised at the effect I got. If the bench had been on the right side of the frame with the space on the left, it would have looked more inviting and peaceful. Like you were walking toward the bench. But since it was on the left side, it's more like you are passing it by and it's almost gone. Even though you don’t actually see the back of the bench, it feels like you’re looking at the back and it’s facing a big nothingness. The trees in the background indicate that there’s life and action elsewhere, but the bench is facing away from them.

This right here is why I love photography so much.
